Free Trial Protection for Add‑Ons

Currently, when a customer is on a trial and adds an add‑on (such as an extra seat), the subscription activates immediately and a charge is applied — even though the trial period has not yet ended. This behavior disrupts the trial experience and can discourage customers from exploring add‑ons during their trial.

We request a Free Trial Protection feature, similar to Stripe’s implementation, that ensures:

• Add‑ons added during a trial do not trigger immediate billing.

• Charges for add‑ons are deferred until the trial period ends and the subscription officially begins.

• Customers can freely experiment with add‑ons during the trial without fear of premature charges.

This would improve customer trust, reduce friction in trial conversions, and align Dodo’s trial handling with industry best practices.
